Looking Inwards
This section features examples of collective efforts to disarm the British state. We show mass campaigns against nuclear weapons, attempts to undermine the production and sale of weapons, mass actions to challenge the presence of military infrastructure, and counter-cultural influences.
The displays showcase a diversity of tactics within the movement – ranging from direct action against military bases to conscientious objection, from civil campaigns to workers’ control of production, and from mass blockades against the financing of war to challenges via international law.
The section is framed around three broad areas: MASS RESPONSES and direct action against war and nuclear weapons; WORKERS AGAINST WAR looks at how the organised workers' movement challenged militarism; and finally, DISARMING THE STATE, in which groups have targeted military infrastructure and its financing.
